"More than you imagine." is Auburn’s slogan. We sure found it that way.
We couldn’t begin to get everything in. But here are a few highlights:

March

Auburn

HOSTED BY
DOROTHY WILHELM

MY HOME TOWN IS SEEN ON CHANNEL 76 THROUGHOUT PIERCE COUNTY.

MY HOME TOWN IS ALSO AVAILABLE ON COMCAST ON DEMAND.
Go to On Demand, then "Get Local" followed by "My Town" then "Community."
It is here that you'll find the MHT (My Home Town) shows available.

The Auburn Culinary Arts program is just one of the innovative programs operated by the Auburn School District. These students (who obviously put fire in their cooking) learn to operate a restaurant.

Breathtaking scenery, Mt Rainier presides over the beautiful Auburn valley. Don’t see how these folks get any work done.

Auburn has a historical gem in its White River Museum. We were lucky spend time with
lifetime Auburn resident Mae Yamada as she sat by her mother’s statue at the museum.
Mae told us of her parents’ activism in Auburn - her father was the first male to become president of the PTA. And yet, after that, when
December 7 came her father was arrested and all of the family was detained in relocation camps. Her brother, a member of the famed 442nd, the “Go For Broke” Battalion of World War II died in the rescue of Texas’ Lost Battallion. And yet, Mae continues at 88 to be active in this her home community. You won’t want to miss the moving talk with her.

The 5:15 Sounder train arrives at one of the most
beautiful stations anywhere in the Northwest.

Auburn is known for it’s eclectic collection of public art. A favorite is this deer that spends his days
gazing down on Auburn from Centennial Park.
Lucky fellow!!

Kakei Nakagawa, Minister

Auburn is a city of incredible diversity and so we felt honored to meet Kakei Nakagawa of the White River Buddhist Temple. Minister Nakagawa left us with
this prayer, which we share here:

Buddhist Prayer

May all beings be happy
May they be joyous and live in Safety.
All living beings -
Weak or Strong
Tall, medium or short
Visible or Invisible
Near or far
Born or to be born
May all beings be happy.
Let no one despise any being in any state.
Let none of my anger or hatred bring hrm to another.
