The brand new statue of Meriwether Lewis and his dog Seaman, sculpted by John Jewell will be a big addition to Ft. Lewis:

In the words of Major General John Hemphill:

Captain Meriwether Lewis Corps of Discovery was an Army task force. It operated like a company. There were 2 officers, 3 sergeants, and 23 privates. 2 army civilian employees made up the task force.

The first sergeant was Sgt. John Ordway. Here we’re going to put up a stature of Sgt. Ordway, same size as Captain Lewis’ statue. This will be the army’s first statue to an enlisted soldier by name.

Money for the Ordway statue has to be raised. It will take $117,000. Please donate to this worthwhile project: To donate, checks should be made payable to Sargeant Ordway Statue. Please mail donations to AUSA, PO Box 33181, Fort Lewis, WA 98433

Donations are exempt from Federal Income Tax under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, and receipts will be given when required by the Code’s section 170f(8). EIN is 53-0193361.

We share photographs that Major Rodney Olson took during his tour in Iraq - shown here, both of the Strykers rolling into Mosul and the American soldiers interacting with the people of Iraq.

We talked with members of the Ft Lewis Styker Brigade and learned why they call the Stryker the cadillac of the battlefield.

The troops of the 555th, the Triple Nickle, dug in to show us their training methods & Col. Chris Toomey demonstrates the lessons they must learn to stay safe overseas.

Meet the Lancer Wives who are showing support for their Spouses by Marching to Iraq. And back. So far they’ve gone 9,702 miles - only 12,000 miles to go.

See Breathtaking precision drill from the Ft Lewis Honor Guard. And of course, that’s just the beginning. Be sure to join us for our tour of Ft. Lewis.
